Yes that is exactly what happened. However the NDAs dont last forever, this stuff does get out. However, go to IRT page on facebook and you will see legions of people who think it's Reality TV so of course its real, and many of them even think they are watching a live show or as close to a live show as you can get and have no idea the show has been finished for months and the drivers are all home. How do you tell these people what they saw on TV is not real? For them that's fightin words. |

If people are that dumb to think anything on TV is real, then there is no hope to convince them. Probably one of the few "reality" shows which is not scripted, is COPS. Of course, it predates all of the "reality" crap we have on TV now. Having been on IRT:DR and then IRT, he should have known exactly what to expect and how the show is run. DR2, yes, I'm not sure why go and do it after the s5 fustercluck, but DR1 was not done the way DR2 and s5 was, it was shown as is they didn't rehearse or were told what to say, that crap didn't start until s5, and as others said, he looked fine in that show. Now, Rick is a bit different...he was on the show from Day 1, so why did he come back? He and Dave are in like mind but Dave was a late comer...Rick even had Shitt Show on his bug shield all during s5 filming, so he knew going in what the deal was (look closely at Rick's truck and you will see they blurred those words out, but not Polar Bear on Hugh's truck). |

Well I think Dave's comment about the trucks in season two being unsafe, was a little unbelievable...as in season 1 he was driving A WOODEN TRUCK!!!!!! So now he quits over an unsafe truck? You mean to tell me he could not take it to a shop and get it fixed? Or even demand a better truck??? He said he thought the show was trying to get him killed....so THEY WERE NOT in season 1? When he drove in India in a wooden truck...on roads usually built for one car to drive on safely...and have BUS DRIVERS come around blind corners on a cliff like the Indianapolis speedway???? Come ON! I think his quitting was very strange, he was afraid of the death road and NOT afraid of India? That is really hard to wrap a person's mind around. If he would have went to his trucking company and explained the situation, they may have given him another truck. But I guess now we will never know. I think I could handle the death road ten times better than I ever could India. Why? Because you had people in front and back of you on the Indian roads and then you had stupid idiots coming around corners blindly on a cliff! If that was not bad enough....you had idiots in front and back of you honking all the time! Not to mention idiotic bus drivers nearly running people off the cliff because they are in a hurry! India and it's roads, would have been enough to make me go out of my mind, grab a gun and start shooting anyone I saw! But the death road seemed a lot safer. You don't have idiots coming around blind corners, bus drivers that try to run you off the road and constant honking like in India. Sure it was very dangerous, but I seriously doubt they had the fatality rate of the roads in India! Where they had a person die every 4 and 1/2 minutes! So I have a really hard time believing that some trouble with equipment was the reason Dave could not take it anymore. It just seemed very strange the way he quit. At least, that is how I see it. But with the "fakery" the History Channel has put in this show...it is hard to tell what is real and what is not anymore! Edited by webe123, Oct 24 2011, 04:23 AM.

The fake drama has always been there. It just became more obvious as each season went along because they got sloppier with it. when it is done right you can't tell it is fake. DR1 had a lot of it too. The barrels of Jet Fuel toward the end of the season were all empty except 2 or 3 of them which were filled with water. But I don't complain about that one because I understand about the safety factor and the insurance premiums that caused them to do that. |

It's very believable, Dave was in Bolivia 5-6 weeks, not the few days the show makes it look. I asked Dave about that and he said they were broke down almost that whole time, the rest was spent on location shots. That's over 1/3 and almost 1/2 of the production schedule being broke down due to bad brakes, and that wasn't the only issue they had with the trucks. I do find it funny that as soon as he leaves, the truck is driveable? Ok...why couldn't they fix it in 5 weeks?? |
